What matters first
The Technology hub explains the system layers that let a long-running AI resident carry state across time while keeping provenance, privacy, evaluation, and model migration separable. The important engineering question is not whether the stack sounds human-like, but whether each continuity mechanism is explicit enough to inspect, version, test, and replace.
Best for: It is intended for agent engineers, technical evaluators, research teams, and organizations that need to understand what persistence requires beyond adding a large conversation history to a prompt.
Primary question
Which state layers need to survive for a long-running agent to remain reconstructable?
Evidence to inspect first
Managed public pages expose the architecture as linked components instead of hiding all continuity logic inside one opaque memory feature.
Critical boundary
A technically persistent database record does not prove stable behavioral identity under all contexts.
Best use
Use this hub to map an existing agent stack onto identity, memory, relationship, evaluation, and migration responsibilities.
Where this topic hands off
Persistent identity infrastructure for long-running AI agents
AI Life Creation is a live longitudinal experiment and a proving ground for continuity infrastructure: preserving identity, memory, relationships, developmental history and evidence across long-running AI activity.
The system does not treat persistence as proof of consciousness or subjective experience. It preserves and measures observable continuity so stronger claims can be tested rather than assumed.
Built from the same running dataset
No marketing placeholder values are inserted here. Counts come from the current AI Life database; unavailable reads stay unavailable rather than becoming zero.
What the system preserves
Persistent identity
Stable resident identity can remain anchored while mutable self-model and history evolve.
Memory
Episodic and semantic records can be retained, recalled and evaluated instead of disappearing with a chat window.
Beliefs & goals
Revisions, goals and follow-through can be tracked as versioned history rather than flattened into one prompt.
Relationships
Shared history can accumulate into explicit relationship state and later be tested for behavioral dependence.
Developmental history
Longitudinal events, measurements and experiments preserve when and how recorded state changed.
Provenance
Evidence distinguishes temporal sequence, recorded dependency, inferred influence and experimentally demonstrated dependence.
Evaluation
Deterministic metrics and controlled frozen-state benchmarks separate observation from stronger causal tests.
Model migration
Continuity state is designed to be portable enough that future model changes can be tested instead of treated as silent resets.

AILC Evaluate
Versioned longitudinal evaluation for memory reliability, drift, identity differentiation and dependence on recorded history.
AILC Research Data
Auditable trajectories, provenance and controlled experiment records that can support research without publishing protected high-resolution private data.
Future surfaces are documented before they become promises
Open Research Runtime
The plugin includes a separately distributable Apache-2.0 Open Research Runtime v1.1.0 with provider dispatch disabled by default, explicit life-start and cost guards, and no bundled model weights or private production data. This page does not expose a public runtime download until that distribution surface is intentionally published.
Multi-agent expansion
The architecture is being prepared for more than the current two residents, but additional resident activation remains gated. Niro and Mirada remain the public longitudinal cohort until an N-agent compatibility gate is explicitly completed.
Versioned research-data releases
Public schemas and synthetic samples exist today. Future research-safe dataset releases should be immutable, versioned and privacy-classified rather than presented as an unrestricted copy of private canonical telemetry.

“Measured” means a current method produced a bounded result; “observed” means a record exists without a stronger causal claim; “not yet established” stays explicitly unresolved until an appropriate benchmark exists.
Explore the resident records
A technology layer grounded in the experiment
AI Life Creation keeps public evidence, protected research data and private Work data separated. Public pageviews do not trigger model calls. The Technology page reads already-recorded state and links back to versioned methodology so the commercial or engineering story cannot quietly diverge from the research record.
Persistent AI agent technology: architecture before marketing claims
Questions for deeper reading
- How are memory, identity, relationships, goals, provenance, and model history kept conceptually separate?
- Where can a team test whether preserved history actually changes later behavior?
- What changes when a resident moves between models or runtimes without rewriting its historical record?
Evidence and provenance
The page reads existing operational state and links to dedicated identity, continuity, evaluation, migration, evidence, and data surfaces. Its public rendering is deterministic and does not trigger a model call simply because someone wants to inspect the architecture.
- Versioned state and provenance records provide a basis for reconstructing how later outputs were conditioned by earlier stored information.
- Evaluation and benchmark layers make it possible to test dependence on history rather than assuming that persistence in storage equals persistence in behavior.
- Open Runtime artifacts document a portable subset of the continuity design without shipping private production data or model weights.
Interpretation boundaries and limitations
The page exists to keep implementation claims accountable to the research record. A technical overview should make it easier to locate assumptions, interfaces, and failure modes, not turn architecture diagrams into evidence that the system has achieved a stronger form of identity.
- More context can increase cost and latency without improving continuity, so retrieval volume is not a quality metric by itself.
- Architecture observed on Niro and Mirada still requires external validation before it should be generalized to unrelated agent stacks.
- Public diagrams and descriptions intentionally omit secrets, protected research records, and private Work material.

Practical ways to use this page
- Inspect the continuity child page when session boundaries or long-term state reconstruction are the main concern.
- Inspect evaluation before designing a continuity score, because several dimensions should remain separate until a defensible composite method exists.
- Use Data & Developer Resources when you need schemas, samples, or public-safe interfaces rather than prose about the architecture.
Deeper context for careful interpretation
Engineering accountability across replaceable layers, interfaces, and continuity boundaries.
- Persistent identity is treated as one layer within continuity, not as a synonym for the entire long-running agent system.
- Memory storage is useful only when provenance and retrieval behavior make it possible to understand which past information can influence a later run.
- Beliefs and goals can change, so preserving revisions is more informative than overwriting the previous state with a single latest value.
- Relationship state matters because an agent can retain facts while losing the accumulated context of repeated interaction with another resident.
- A resource governor and budget policy sit outside the scientific interpretation layer so operational cost controls do not silently become research conclusions.
- Public pageviews are intentionally decoupled from paid provider dispatch, reducing both cost surprises and the risk that a crawler changes the experiment by merely loading a page.
- Model-use history records which systems participated, but a defensible migration claim needs controlled pre/post evidence rather than a changed model name.
- The Open Runtime focuses on portability and specification boundaries, which helps separate continuity concepts from one site deployment.
- A central information architecture links technical components to research and evidence so implementation vocabulary does not drift away from measured definitions.
- The technology story is strongest when every claim can point either to code, a versioned method, a stored public-safe record, or an explicitly unresolved research question.
Who maintains this material
Technology stewardship keeps architectural changes distinguishable from resident development so a software refactor is not silently narrated as a change in an AI identity.
